6 Reasons Why We Move This World
Written by Founder and CEO, Sara Potler LaHayne
As we bask in the warm memories of these past six years, there are infinite reasons why we choose to Move This World. Every person that we work with is a new reason. Though it’d take another six years to give nod to every source of inspiration, here are a few of our favorite reasons why we do what we do:
6) To take control of our own lives.
The ability to be aware of what we’re feeling allows us to not be consumed by it. Nearly 35 million children in the U.S. have experienced one or more types of childhood trauma. We want people to have the opportunity to be in control of themselves rather than be consumed by their struggles. By controlling your emotions everyone is equipped for the organized chaos we call life.
5) We need to take care of ourselves before we can take care of others.
It often becomes difficult for us to prioritize ourselves. In a world where the importance of putting others first is so often emphasized, we forget that we need to take care of us. Move This World reassures us that we matter as well. So treat yourself to that cronut, this morning. You deserve it.
4) We believe in the power that expression has in a balanced life.
Happiness is the ability to express your emotions in a positive way to create a healthy and balanced life. With a goal of keeping ourselves and loved ones happy, it’s time to make harnessing expression a priority.
3) Being emotionally self aware leads to better communication.
Speaking about emotions is no longer taboo. MTW builds common language around emotions and mental health so we can better understand each other. Communication is key in any community, and in order for that to happen we need to know how to communicate effectively.
2) We enjoy seeing everyone reach their full potential.
Imagine a world where everyone becomes their best selves, and everyone woke up ready to achieve their goals. We set out every day to provide the tools everyone needs to succeed, because everyone deserves happiness. Watching a student use their struggles to succeed inspires us to Move This World.
1) We can change the world one movement at a time.
We create movements in the direction that we want the world to move. We aren’t a bunch of John Mayers waiting on the world to change, we change it ourselves every day. The power of changing one frown into a smile is powerful enough to devote our lives to the pursuit of happiness.
Move This World has created invaluable relationships with everyone we’ve worked with, to which we owe the success of these past 6 years, and the future of what’s to come!
