At Move This World, we know that “teachers” could not possibly be defined by one word.
Yes, teachers teach. But they also love. They stress. They manage, multitask, and maneuver through situations with grace. They turn on light bulbs, in classrooms and in our minds.
They are part educator, social worker, engineer, artist, and translator.
Mostly, teachers are underappreciated–especially in May, during the height of testing season.
May 9, 2017 was National Thank a Teacher Day, as if one day was enough to properly thank teachers for all they do for society.
Without teachers, many of us would be lost. For it is the teacher who gets up at the crack of dawn, the earliest of the early risers, to welcome young minds dealing with a wide range of emotional strains into the classroom, to train them with skills they may not truly understand the value of for decades.
If they were sprinters, they would run up hills. If they cleaned windows, they clean the ones on the Empire State building. If they were in the military, they would be on the front lines.
The underlying theme is that teachers have to be mentally tough to carry the weight of the future on their shoulders each and every day. They take on issues most people try to avoid and still have an important mission to complete each school year.
Move This World plays a small part in this mission, but one that makes a huge impact. Our goal is to ease the emotional burden teachers feel everyday, to mitigate stress, and to create communication around the difficulties experienced on a regular basis.
It’s tough to be a teacher; it’s even tougher to admit just how hard it can be.
We stand in awe of educators around the world, and feel honored that so many ask us to be a part of their daily routine.
So today, we take the time to do something we should do everyday: thank a teacher. Thank you for taking on this burden. Thank you for being who you are.
