About the Session:
Join us before the session starts for a light breakfast and networking time!
At 9:00 am, the session will start by embracing being away from our computers and out of our seats, and spending time strengthening our personal wellbeing in order to best support others. You will experience and learn strategies for utilizing creative expression as an emotional management tool for the self, and in order to create safe and supportive learning environments for all students and staff.
Later, we’ll take a seat and discuss why social emotional learning (SEL) is essential for all students and staff, how to best evaluate and select SEL programming, and best practices for program implementation. Then spend time engaging and collaborating with fellow administrators and teachers to discuss challenges and brainstorm ideas for next steps with one another. Our social emotional learning workshop wouldn’t be complete without checking-in with a key programmatic stakeholder: students. Spend time seeing some strategies in action and hear what students say are the best SEL practices. The session will conclude with a Q & A and networking time.
Visitors will hear from:
Robin Phillips, Equity and Compliance Director, Warren County Schools
Tamra Newby, Assistant Principal, Morrison Elementary School
Chris Roberson, 7th Grade Teacher, Morrison Elementary School
Tabetha Pack, First Grade Teacher, West Elementary
